Mall of Indonesia
Mall of Indonesia was a shopping mall in Kelapa Gading Square. Mall of Indonesia had the same layout as Mall of America. In this mall there are Blitzmegaplex, Moiland, Carefour, Centro, Golden GYM, Food Teremtion and Raja Eletronik. This mall was planned in 2003, but was built between 2006 and 2008. Mall Of Indonesia was built by Agung Sedayu Group .
History of layout and design
Plan 2003
Mall of Indonesia at the first planning concept they planned to build the large square in out lobby of Mall of Indonesia with European design. And in the atrium of the mall there are sky with shining star and the lift are like one of the towers in Venice. Then in level 6-10 there are Venice that there are gondolas exactly like Venice and in the ground level there are San Diego Square and one can travel to San Diego Square by gondola. The difference between San Diego Square and Venice in level 6-10 is if San Diego Square's concept is Mediterranean, Venice's concept is classic.
Plan 2006
Developer of Mall of Indonesia planned to change layout, that the large square in out of Mall of Indonesia in make smaller but the plan of Venice still not cancelled.
Plan 2007
Mall of Indonesia do a major changing of the layout that have been cancelled which is the plan of Venice and make a large indoor theme park called Moiland .This change makes Mall of Indonesia layout almost the same as Mall Of America's layout, but it has round shape while Mall of America has square shape.
2008
Mall of Indonesia held their soft opening with anchor tenant of Carrefour and Centro Department Store
2009
Mall of Indonesia held their Grand Opening on April 18, 2009, among the anchor tenants are : Carrefour, Centro Department Store, Gold's Gym, Gramedia, Lollipop Family Karaoke, Blitz Megaplex
Facts about Mall of Indonesia:
- The developer of Mall of Indonesia, Agung Sedayu Group joint operation with Agung Podomoro, wanted to make Kidzania in Mall of Indonesia but cancelled because in Indonesia already have Kidzania at Pacific Place Jakarta in SCBD and open in 2007.
- The developer sells and promotes Mall of Indonesia using a TV show on Metro Tv and one other channel.
- Mall Of Indonesia was surrounded by two large malls in Jakarta called Mall Artha Gading and Mall Kelapa Gading. Another smaller mall is called KTC.
- The developer of Sumarecon Kelapa Gading isn't very happy when the developer of Mall of Indonesia (Agung Sedayu & Agung Podomoro) decided to make higher road elevation in order to protect the area from flood.
